The Family Center and Casa da Saudade Library presents The Conversation Circle
Where: The Family Center 361 Cedar Grove Street New Bedford, MA 02746
When: Monday and Thursday Mornings: Mondays from 9 AM - 10 AM Thursdays from 10 AM - 11:30 AM
January: 9th, 12th, 16th, 19th, 23rd, 26th and 30th February: 2nd and 6th
The Conversation Circle will have participants practice English with the following activities:
- Discussion on a variety of themes and topics (doctor visits, schooling, etc.) - Supplemental Learning Materials ( Books, CD's and DVD's)
This group is offered in Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, and Spanish

Playgroups at Dottin Place
The Family Center and the Family Resource and Development Center presents an eight-week session playgroup at the Dottin Place in New Bedford. This playgroup is for children between the ages of 2-4. The children will be exploring variety of weekly themes such as Ground Hog Day, Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day, President's Day and Mardi Gras. The children will engage in assorted art and craft activities that go along to each theme. Come and meet other parents while your child makes new friends.

Gymnatics at the Gomes Elementary School
When: November 15, 2011 - March 8, 2012, Tuesdays and Thursdays
Where: Gomes Elementary School Gymnasium, 286 South Second Street
Ages: 6-14 Beginner: 4:00- 5:30 pm Advanced: 5:30 - 7:00 pm Teachers will evaluate students during the first week to assure they are in the appropriate level. Students will be taught proper techniques used at the beginning levels and progress through the advanced levels. Each student will be encouraged to develop and advance their skills according to their own abilities.
This program will be taught in a fun, safe environment and will help students build strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, balance, confidence and self discipline. Nutrition and the importance of overall wellness will be discussed.

Parents Helping Parents Support Group
This group is a weekly ongoing support group where parents can join anytime. This group meets every Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Family Resource and Development Center located on 105 William Street, 3rd floor.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group
This group meets on the third Tuesday of every month starting at 6:00 p.m. located at City Hall in the Ashley Room on 133 William Street.
